COVID-19 Patients & Visitors

What we are doing at JHAH

Aligned with the Ministry of Health and World Health Organization directives, JHAH is taking proactive steps to prevent and limit COVID-19 and to ensure operational readiness and maintain flexibility should circumstances evolve in response to COVID-19.

Infection Prevention Entrance Screening

Infection Prevention Entrance Screening is now in effect. All patients, family members and JHAH staff entering JHAH will be screened by nurses. This consists of applying hand sanitizer, wearing a mask, answering questions related to travel history, and being assessed for symptoms, including cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, runny nose and getting checked for high temperature using an infra-red non-contact thermometer.

Impact of COVID-19 on JHAH services

Key information for patients and visitors

If you have been contacted to be tested for COVID-19

If you have been contacted by JHAH, or the Ministry of Health, to be tested for COVID-19 at JHAH, as a precautionary measure, we will direct you to the JHAH Drive-Through Screening Station. When we contact you, we will provide you with all the details needed to complete your testing, including preparation, testing location, and the time you should arrive for your screening.

JHAH Drive-Through Screening Station

This is a streamlined process, allowing our JHAH medical professionals to swiftly test those who have been exposed to a confirmed case of COVID-19. The candidates for testing are contacted by JHAH or the Ministry of Health. They will have a phone consultation with a JHAH clinician before coming to JHAH, which means the actual screening process only takes about one minute to complete, without the person even having to leave their car, thereby lowering the risk of spreading infection. The results of the test may take up to five working days.

I would like to know my COVID-19 test result

If you have been tested for COVID-19 at JHAH, we will call you with your test result when it is ready. If it has been more than seven days since you were tested at JHAH, and if you have missed one or multiple calls from our central phone line (800-305-4444), you can call our Nurse Care Line at 800-305-4444, option three, and request your test result.

Rescheduling your COVID-19 test

If you have been contacted to be tested for COVID-19 at JHAH but you need to reschedule your test, you can call our Nurse Care Line at 800-305-4444, option three, and they will coordinate your test appointment with you.

I have a missed call from JHAH. Are you contacting me to be tested?

There can be many reasons for us to call you, including updating you on future appointments for you and your family. If we have called you to schedule a COVID-19 test for you, and you missed our call, we will call you back.

JHAH has put in effect temporary special measures to make sure that our patients continue to be cared for in a safe environment.
